job Posting Maintenance Worker – HVAC & Electrical
Job Title: Maintenance Worker – HVAC & Electrical
Reports To: Director of Maintenance 
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Year-Round
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
 
Salary Range
$48,000 – $62,000 annually, based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated skill level.
 
Additional compensation may include:
Benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan participation, and paid leave
Note: Salary placement is determined by years of relevant experience, HVAC certification level, and electrical licensure.
 
Primary Purpose
To maintain district facilities in safe, clean, and fully operational condition with a focus on HVAC systems and electrical infrastructure. The Maintenance Worker performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting to ensure minimal disruption to instruction and campus operations.
 
Qualifications
Education/Certification
•    High school diploma or GED required
•    Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record
•    EPA Certification (preferred for HVAC work)
•    Journeyman Electrician license (preferred but not required)
Experience
•    Minimum 2 years experience in commercial HVAC systems
•    Experience with electrical troubleshooting and repair
•    Experience working in schools or large facilities preferred
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•    Knowledge of HVAC systems (split systems, package units, heat pumps, etc.)
•    Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems, lighting, breakers, panels, and low-voltage systems
•    Understanding of preventative maintenance practices
•    Ability to read blueprints and schematics
•    Strong problem-solving skills
•    Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
•    Knowledge of safety standards and OSHA regulations
 
Major Responsibilities and Duties
HVAC
•    Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems
•    Diagnose and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units
•    Replace motors, belts, filters, thermostats, and controls
•    Monitor system performance and energy efficiency
•    Maintain HVAC logs and service records
Electrical
•    Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems, ballasts, outlets, and switches
•    Repair minor electrical distribution issues
•    Replace breakers and perform minor panel repairs
•    Assist with emergency power and generator maintenance
•    Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards
 
General Maintenance
•    Respond to work orders in a timely manner
•    Assist with plumbing, carpentry, and minor facility repairs as needed
•    Support campus events requiring facility setup
•    Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
•    Participate in emergency response (weather events, power outages, etc.)
 
Working Conditions
•    Frequent walking, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs
•    Exposure to extreme temperatures
•    May require evening or weekend work
•    On-call availability for emergencies
