Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; Must hold a Texas certification in the subject to be taught or applicable generalist certification or be "Highly Qualified" and enrolled in an Alternative Certification Program. At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.

-Texas certification in the subject to be taught or applicable generalist certification.
-ESL Certification is highly preferred.
-GT Certification is highly preferred.

-Working computer knowledge and the ability to use a variety of software programs

Position Summary
Classroom teachers provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.  Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities 
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill campus expectations in alignment with appropriate pacing guide(s).
-Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles and various levels of rigor appropriate for student success.
-Present subject according to guidelines established by TEA, board policies, and administrative regulations.
-Work cooperatively with other staff members as needed to determine instructional goals, curriculum objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
-Work cooperatively with special education teachers as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
-Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
-Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formative and summative assessments.
-Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned—sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
-Be a positive role model for students; support the core values of the school district.
-Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
-Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and campus expectations.
-Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
-Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
-Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
-Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
-Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
-Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
-Attend and participate in staff meetings, unit meetings, and PLC meetings and serve on staff committees as required,
-Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Professional Growth and Development
Establish and maintain a Professional Growth & Development Plan with the principal to ensure goals and objectives remain at the forefront of the teaching experience.  Pursue professional development in needed areas.

Working Conditions
-Maintain emotional control under stress 
-Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing are required 
-Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment
-Must be able to frequently walk up and downstairs 
-At times, must be able to lift 25 pounds to a height of five (5) feet repeatedly
