Mr. Zachary Steadman
Greetings Parents and Students!

Welcome to ECHS Science. I will be your host on a cosmic journey from the beginnings of space and time to the modern day as we explore the culmination of asking the eternal question: "Why?"

We will just as our ancestors did, work as a team, utilizing our ultimate tool: The Scientific Method to explore the strange and wonderous phenomena of both the microscopic and macroscopic world! The ultimate goal of this subject is not to memorize a series of strange factoids, rather it is to gain a better understanding of how to ask valuable, critical questions about natural phenomena and how to quantify observed phenomena in a repeatable, controlled environment.

The key to functioning in a high speed, interconnected, and technologically complex world is being able to process and adapt to new and conflicting information in an analytical manner to draw conclusions. My goal is to help everyone I meet shape that key skill into a functional skill.

To the left you can find my direct email contact, as well as a series of links to each of my class texbooks, student homework, and syllabi.

About Me
Former Neuropsychopharmacology Researcher for University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, I did my Undergraduate Studies at UTSA and A&M Corpus Christi Majoring in Biochemistry with a Minor in Physics and a Concentration in Neuroscience. I spent the better part of 4 years modelling trauma and depression in Sprague-Dawley Rats and then utilizing a series of experimental NMDA Receptor Antagonists and 5HT-2A agonists in order to alleviate the long term symptoms of Treatment Resistant Depression(TRD) and potentially (with further research) PTSD. This research eventually developed into supporting evidence for Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy for TRD and PTSD known as S.T.R.O.N.G.S.T.A.R.

Laboratory Safety Quiz August 20th, 2021

Remember that tomorrow you will take the Laboratory Safety Procedures Quiz, study your Safety Contract and be prepared. The quiz is 35 Questions, 26 Multiple Choice and 9 True and False

Superstring Theory

'Superstring theory' is a shorthand for supersymmetric string theory because unlike bosonic string theory, it is the version of string theory that accounts for both fermions and bosons and incorporates supersymmetry to model gravity.

Since the second superstring revolution, the five superstring theories are regarded as different limits of a single theory tentatively called M-theory.

The deepest problem in theoretical physics is harmonizing the theory of general relativity, which describes gravitation and applies to large-scale structures (starsgalaxiessuper clusters), with quantum mechanics, which describes the other three fundamental forces acting on the atomic scale.

The development of a quantum field theory of a force invariably results in infinite possibilities. Physicists developed the technique of renormalization to eliminate these infinities; this technique works for three of the four fundamental forces—electromagneticstrong nuclear and weak nuclear forces—but not for gravity. Development of quantum theory of gravity therefore requires different means than those used for the other forces.

According to the theory, the fundamental constituents of reality are strings of the Planck length (about 10−33 cm) that vibrate at resonant frequencies. Every string, in theory, has a unique resonance, or harmonic. Different harmonics determine different fundamental particles. The tension in a string is on the order of the Planck force (1044 newtons). The graviton (the proposed messenger particle of the gravitational force), for example, is predicted by the theory to be a string with wave amplitude zero.
