Give Your Child a Strong Start with PreK at Southwest Preparatory School
At Southwest Preparatory School, we believe every child deserves a joyful and nurturing start to their educational journey. Our full-day PreK programs for three- and four-year-olds combine hands-on discovery, academic readiness, and social-emotional growth in a safe, engaging environment. Whether your child qualifies for free PreK or enrolls through our affordable tuition option, they’ll receive personalized support from experienced educators who are committed to whole-child development.
PreK Options Across Campuses
- All Southwest Prep Elementary campuses offer full-day PreK for 4-year-olds (PreK4).
- Our Northwest and Northeast campuses also offer PreK for 3-year-olds (PreK3).
- Free tuition is available for families who meet eligibility requirements.
- For those who don’t qualify, affordable tuition is just $260/month—less than half the cost of most daycare programs.

A Curriculum That Builds Confidence and Curiosity
Our PreK classrooms use the Frog Street curriculum, designed to:
- Foster social-emotional growth, like recognizing and managing “big feelings”
- Build a strong academic foundation in literacy and math
- Encourage independent play, group activities, and small-group instruction
- Promote a love of learning and confidence that lasts into kindergarten and beyond
Students learn critical skills such as:
- Following multi-step directions
- Expanding vocabulary and language comprehension
- Letter recognition and phonics
- Reading and writing short words (including their name)
- Number sense and early math skills (counting, sorting, sequencing)
- Cooperative play, sharing, and communication
- Daily routines and classroom expectations
- Gross and fine motor skill development

We believe in long-term relationships. Our PreK teachers build lasting connections with students and their families, often continuing with students throughout elementary school. Family engagement is woven into everything we do—from communication and events to learning activities you can do at home.
PreK Eligibility Requirements
To enroll, your child must be:
- Four years old by September 1, 2024 (PreK4) OR
- Three years old by September 1, 2024 (PreK3 available at Northwest and Northeast only)
Students may qualify for free PreK if they meet one or more criteria established by the Texas Education Agency, including:
- Be four years old by September 1, 2024 for PreK4
- OR be three years old by September 1, 2024 for PreK3 (available at the Northwest and Northeast campuses only) AND meet one or more of the following eligibility criteria outlined by the Texas Education Agency:
Eligibility Criteria:
- Child is unable to speak and comprehend the English language
(A Home Language Survey will be given at registration, and language testing will be conducted by school staff) - Child is educationally disadvantaged
(Family income must meet federal free/reduced lunch guidelines; income verification is required) - Family receives SNAP or TANF benefits (Current award letter required)
- Child is homeless (Student Residency Form must be completed)
- Child is currently in or has previously been in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS)
(CPS documentation is required) - Child is the dependent of an active-duty member of the armed forces, mobilized reservist, or Texas National Guard
(Also applies if the service member was injured, killed in action, declared MIA, or received the Star of Texas Award. Proof required.) - Child is the dependent of someone eligible for the Star of Texas Award as:
- A peace officer under Section 3106.002, Government Code
- A firefighter under Section 3106.003, Government Code
- An emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004, Government Code
Note: Parents or legal guardians must provide documentation to verify eligibility at the time of registration.

PreK Tuition Pricing and Payment for 2024-25 School Year
For students who do not qualify, the tuition rate for PreK students is $260.00 per month with the exception of August, December, and June, which are calculated on a daily rate ($260.00/# days in the month).
We offer a 5% Military discount and a 20% Employee discount.
