Building Strong Readers from the Start

Southwest Preparatory School is proud to announce that the district has been awarded an Early Childhood Literacy Grant, strengthening support for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade across all campuses.

This grant will enhance literacy instruction during the most critical years of learning, helping students build strong foundations in reading, writing, and language development. Research consistently shows that early literacy success is one of the strongest predictors of long-term academic achievement, and this investment ensures students are set up for future success.

As part of this initiative, Southwest Preparatory School is pleased to welcome Mrs. Dana Fornabaio as the district’s new Early Childhood Director. Mrs. Fornabaio brings years of experience as a successful principal and a deep commitment to supporting both teachers and families. In her new role, she will work closely with campus teams to strengthen instruction, provide targeted support, and ensure students have access to engaging, effective literacy practices.

Southwest Preparatory School looks forward to partnering with families as this important work begins. Together, with strong instruction at school and continued support at home, we are committed to helping every child develop the literacy skills they need for a bright future.
