Students across all four Southwest Preparatory School campuses are gearing up for an unforgettable three-day adventure at the H-E-B Foundation Outdoor School in Leakey, Texas, taking place November 5–7, 2025.
For many of our 3rd–6th graders, this will be their first time experiencing the wonder of the Texas Hill Country — hiking forest trails, kayaking across clear waters, learning archery, or taking on the Alpine Tower. But beyond the activities, the camp experience is designed to build confidence, teamwork, and friendships that reach far beyond the classroom walls.
“Students learn best when they’re fully engaged,” shared Principal Cheryl Wills-Pacheco of the Northwest campus. “H-E-B Camp gives them a chance to discover new strengths and connect with classmates in ways that just don’t happen inside four walls. It’s truly learning at its best — outdoors.”
A Districtwide Experience
What began as a single-campus event has grown into a districtwide tradition, with students from the Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, and Seguin campuses attending together. At camp, students are intentionally mixed into cabins and adventure teams, encouraging them to meet peers from other campuses and develop new bonds.
The result? A community of young learners who return home with lasting memories — and a new sense of belonging within the Southwest Prep family.
How You Can Help
While H-E-B generously provides the camp facilities and instruction at no cost to schools, Southwest Prep must fund meals, transportation, and student supplies. With rising costs, that total has increased to about $6,000–$7,500 for this year’s trip.
