Alumni Spotlight: Raziel Sink, Class of 2022
Northeast Campus | University of the Incarnate Word | Aspiring Concert & Sports Photographer
When Raziel Sink first walked through the doors of Southwest Prep Northeast in 4th grade, she had no idea her time there would help shape not only her education—but her future career.
A proud member of the Class of 2022, Raziel reflects fondly on her years at Southwest Prep. “Some of my favorite memories are meeting the people who are still my closest friends, discovering my passion for photography in Mr. Flores’ class, and diving into hands-on projects in Mr. Vasquez’s physics class,” she shares.
Raziel's connection to the Northeast campus runs deep. Her mother is a teacher there, which gave her a unique experience as a student. “I spent more time on campus than most of my classmates, coming in early and staying late. It gave me a deeper connection with my teachers and helped me build lasting friendships.”
Raziel’s impact extended far beyond the classroom. As an 8th grader, she made local headlines when she met with the Mayor of San Antonio to receive a proclamation declaring October as National Bullying Prevention Month in the city. She also launched her own website, www.bullyingstopstoday.net, to raise awareness and provide resources. Even as a middle school student, Raziel showed the compassion and courage that continues to define her today.
Now a photography student at the University of the Incarnate Word, Raziel is pursuing a dream she first discovered at Southwest Prep. “When I took photography with Mr. Flores, I realized how much I loved it. He helped me find my passion, and I’m forever grateful to him for that.”
That passion has already led to exciting accomplishments. One of her photographs was recently featured in a college art exhibition at the San Antonio Art League and Museum—an achievement that speaks to her talent and dedication.
This graduation season, Raziel is returning to Southwest Prep—but this time, behind the camera. She’ll be providing photography services at the very place where her journey began. “It means a lot to be back and contributing to something that played such a big role in my life,” she says.
Her advice to current students? “Don’t be afraid to change your mind. I started college planning to study biology and go into forensic science, but I realized photography was what really lit me up inside. Following that path made my future feel brighter.”
Looking ahead, Raziel dreams of becoming a concert and sports photographer, with the ultimate goal of working as a personal photographer for a major musician. With her drive, creativity, and roots in a school community that believed in her, there’s no doubt she’s on her way.
