Jesus Martinez Named 2025 Superintendent Award Recipient
Each year, campus leaders across Southwest Preparatory School nominate an outstanding student who exemplifies the heart of our mission—someone who lives out the district’s core values of accountability, character, discipline, and respect. The Superintendent Award is our highest student honor, chosen by Superintendent Mrs. Christinn Jean after careful review of nominations submitted by each campus.
This year, we are proud to announce that Jesus Martinez, Southeast campus Salutatorian and longtime Warrior, has been selected as the 2025 Superintendent Award recipient.
“It is not every day that we come across someone whose actions speak louder than their words,” said Superintendent Christinn Jean. “Someone who, even in the small moments, shows us what accountability, character, discipline, and respect truly look like. Jesus Martinez is that student.”
Jesus has been a part of the Southwest Prep family since elementary school, with only a brief time away. Over the years, he has developed into a thoughtful and principled leader who consistently sets a strong example in every setting—academic, social, and community.
Campus leaders describe him as someone everyone can count on. Whether assisting in classrooms, supporting younger students, or lending a hand in the front office, Jesus approaches every task with humility, responsibility, and quiet leadership. As a bilingual student, he frequently steps up to support ESL peers and serves as a translator for Spanish-speaking families, helping to bridge the gap between school and home.
His initiative is visible daily, whether guiding a small math group, greeting visitors at the front desk, or staying on top of his academic responsibilities. He maintains strong grades while preparing for his next chapter—college and the workforce—without ever losing sight of his role as a leader and role model within the school community.
But what truly sets Jesus apart is his integrity. When faced with challenges, he doesn’t shift blame—he reflects, communicates, and corrects course with maturity and grace. He is, in every sense, the kind of person we hope all of our students will become.
“Jesus Martinez is more than a standout student,” reads his campus nomination. “He is a person of principle and heart. His journey through SWP has been marked by consistent growth. He sets the standard for what it means to be a Southwest Preparatory School graduate.”
We congratulate Jesus on this well-deserved honor and look forward to seeing all the ways he will continue to lead and inspire in the years to come.
