Welcome all!

Hello everyone! My name is Ms. Bass and this is my first year at Southwest Preparatory School. I've been teaching for 12 years with a focus on reading and English.

 

I am the reading intervention teacher K-10 this year at New Directions. I am very excited to work with you! 

 

This is my second year living in Texas and I love it. I'm originally from Sioux City, IA and moved down here for the warmer weather. Hot, hot, and more hot! I have three cats and one dog, so I love discussing pets with my students. Teaching is my passion. I'm very easy to talk to and love to hear from parents. Questions and ideas are welcome anytime. My goal is to provide a supportive, safe learning environment tailored to every student. I help my students develop a growth mindset and a love of reading.

 

I focus on building positive relationships with my students. I foster an atmosphere of openness and honesty, so anything a student wants to share or parents share with me is confidential and helps me to tailor my instruction. I meet my students where they are and recognize effort and positivity. I will do everything in my power to help your student succeed in ELAR this year.
