Southwest Preparatory School Kicks Off 2025–26 with Purpose, Passion, and Accountability
At Southwest Preparatory School, Convocation isn’t just a back-to-school tradition—it’s a launchpad for transformation. This year, the message was clear: Excellence begins with personal accountability.
Superintendent Christinn Jean took the stage with a powerful charge for the year ahead—not with clichés or checklists, but with real talk about what truly moves schools forward.
“I know. It doesn't sound glamorous. It's not the flashy part of our job,” she began. “There’s no Pinterest board titled ‘Cute Accountability Strategies for Classroom Decor.’ But accountability is the foundation for everything else we do.”
This unapologetically honest message set the tone not only for the day—but for the year. In every classroom, in every hallway, and in every decision, integrity must come first.
“We set the tone. We model the mindset. We own our impact,” she continued. “If we want excellence in our classrooms, it starts with integrity in ourselves.”
But accountability, Jean emphasized, doesn’t mean perfection.
“Nobody here is perfect—except maybe the school registrar, because they somehow run the entire district on coffee and miracles.”
“Accountability is about choosing growth over excuses. It’s about asking, ‘What can I do?’ instead of ‘Why doesn’t someone fix this?’”
That message wasn’t just for staff. It was a powerful signal to parents and the community: Southwest Preparatory School is raising the bar for how students are taught, supported, and led.
A Theme of Purpose on Every Campus
Across the district, each campus unveiled its own vision for the year—each rooted in the district-wide campaign, Every Student. Every Step. Every Day.
-
Northeast Campus launched into A Knight’s Tale: A Quest for Greatness, a powerful story-driven theme anchored in the values of Quality, Unity, Excellence, Support, and Tenacity. These are not just words on a banner. They’re the compass that will guide every classroom, every decision, and every student interaction this year.
-
Northwest Campus unveiled a bold mission: To Elevate Excellence. Principal Cheryl Wills-Pacheco shared, “We are raising the academic bar for all students by addressing their diverse needs through comprehensive support and empowerment.” Northwest is also committed to empowering educators. “We will be a united team of dedicated individuals, prioritizing student success, fostering accountability, and cultivating a positive, nurturing environment free from negativity.” Their motto says it all: Lead Like a Royal. Roar Like a Lion!

Seguin Campus is charging forward as a United Force—teachers and administrators dedicated to excellence, growth, and the future of every student. Lighting the path ahead with purpose, passion, and perseverance, their mission is rooted in strength and unity. Seguin staff aren’t just educators—they are trailblazers, illuminating the way forward with belief in every student’s potential.
-
Southeast Campus, through its Mission Possible, affirmed its unwavering dedication to student growth and community strength. With open hearts and focused vision, they are committed to walking alongside every child and every family—no matter the challenge. Mission Possible reflects their belief that with teamwork, high expectations, and community connection, nothing is out of reach.
Together, these campus themes tell a powerful story—one of unity, urgency, and deep belief in the potential of every child.
Honoring Commitment, Recognizing Excellence
Southwest Prep also took time during Convocation to celebrate the people behind the mission. Staff were honored for their Years of Service, a powerful reminder that long-term dedication still matters—and that the best educators don’t just teach students, they shape generations.
The event also honored campus-selected recipients of the SALT Award—a recognition of staff members who exemplify Service, Achievement, Leadership, and Teamwork. These are the people who go above and beyond—not for recognition, but because they know what’s at stake for kids.
A Call to Lead with Heart
Jean’s closing message served as both a rallying cry and a personal challenge to every adult in the system:
“This year, I’m asking each of us to live with purpose, lead with humility, and teach with heart.”
“Hold yourself to a high standard—but don’t do it alone. Accountability isn’t isolation; it’s a community practice. When we hold each other up, we lift the entire system.”
The Southwest Prep staff left the 2025-26 Convocation not just with inspiration—but with direction.
“The students are watching. The community is watching. And most importantly—you are watching yourself. Let’s make sure you’re proud of what you see.”
