The following Student Dress Code below is for ALL students enrolled at Southwest Preparatory School –Early College High School.

A key element of our mission is to prepare students for future workforce opportunities.

In addition to jeans or slacks, female students may also wear skirts or dresses as long as they are appropriate in length, defined as below the knee and with shorts underneath. No tight fitting skirts or skorts allowed. Leggings may be worn under appropriate length skirts.

a. Students cannot wear tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, or midriffs. Students may not wear transparent tops. No tops cut low in the front, back or side will be allowed. There should be no skin showing between the bottom of the blouse and the top of pants or skirt when arms are extended above the head.

b. Students cannot wear legging jeans or tights (unless underneath appropriate length dress or skirt).

c. Students may wear capri pants, they must be blue or khaki and below the knee.

d. Pajama bottoms, sweats or yoga pants are not allowed, unless it’s for a specified spirit event.

e. Sagging pants are not allowed on any student.

f. No gym shorts of any kind allowed, unless dressed for a team sport. Once dressed for a team event, students must remain in the area designated by their coach and stay out of the classrooms.

4. Earphones & ear/airpods are not to be in or on the ears in the school building.

5. A maximum of one pair of visible piercings will be allowed. Students with multiple piercings will have to choose which two they wear at school each day. No visible body tattoos & facial piercings.

6. Articles of clothing, jewelry, tattoos, and notebooks promoting drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, sex, gangs, or other topics deemed inappropriate by school officials will not be worn or brought to school. These items will be confiscated and will not be returned (this applies to gang flags if they are discovered).

7. No large purses, bags or backpacks allowed. Bags are subject to be searched by an administration when deemed necessary.

8. Shoes cannot include slippers, flip-flops, or athletic slide type footwear. All shoes must be secured with straps on the back.

If a student fails to comply with campus dress code, a parent/guardian will be contacted to either bring in appropriate clothing or the student will be sent home and receive an unexcused absence. If parent/guardian is unavailable, the student will be assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS) for the day. Repeated violations (3) will result in a three-day Out-of-School Suspension and referral to a Disciplinary Hearing with the District Superintendent to determine the consequence for persistent misbehavior.
