Welcome to Mrs. Rodriguez’s Page
We are back! Welcome everyone to Southwest Preparatory Northwest Campus. It is so good to be back and for those who are new to our school and district- glad that you are all here! I am beginning my 7th year at this district and I love working with this team. I love being around my favorite people (including our students). This year I will be the 4th grade homeroom teacher and teach them math, science and writing. I will also be teaching math to the 5th and 6th grades. I will also have 3rd grade for math lab. I will do my very best to help all my students succeed academically and be ready for the next grade. Here’s just a little bit about me. I have three children ( all adults),two grandchildren, and a husband who I have been married to for 35 years. (Whew! How many days is that?) I also have 3 grandchildren. I am known for sharing stories of all my loved ones and including them into math story problems. I was not sure what I wanted to be when I grew up. I thought that being a mom was the most fun I could have with little people. As my kids started getting older, I took a chance and became interested in going back to college. I got a bit worried when I realized math was different. Nevertheless, I enrolled, started taking courses and met some great professors. I graduated from Texas A&M University San Antonio in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. (Just fancy words to say I am certified to teach all subjects in the elementary level.) I discovered that teaching elementary school (especially math) was the third best way to enjoy life! (Second is being a grandmother) I love to use cooking to bring learning to life and I totally believe that once you share what you’ve learned, you will never forget it. Here's to a new year of growing, learning and making terrific memories.
