Our PreK Program

prek

All of Southwest Prep’s elementary schools offer a full-day PreK program for four-year-old students. The Northwest Elementary campus also has a three-year Prek program. The program is free for those that qualify, but the tuition rate is less than half of most daycares if you do not qualify.

The PreK Frogstreet curriculum focuses heavily on social-emotional development and managing "big feelings" in new situations. Students receive a solid foundation in academic skills that set them up for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Children learn through discovery and exploration during independent play, whole-group activities, and small-group instruction to promote a love of learning. The program is designed to encourage family involvement and for teachers to build relationships with the students that last through elementary into middle and high school. The PreK teachers are focused on whole child growth and development.

Our enriched prekindergarten provides a learning environment that inspires curiosity, builds confidence, and fosters a love of learning. Our students learn essential skills for being successful inprek photos school, like:
- Paying attention
- Following 2-3 step directions
- Learning lots of new vocabulary words for objects and ideas that help them to comprehend what they read and hear
- Learning the ABCs and the sounds associated with each letter
- Learning how to read and write short words, including their name
- Learning numbers from 1-20 and counting
- Sequencing, sorting, and problem-solving skills that will help them with reading and math
